The game is plug and play so your child can play without your assistance. It is a win-win situation for the parent and the child. Reader Rabbit has been around for a long time and it is a truly wonderful system to help children improve their reading skills. I used it when my children were growing up and now I'm providing Reader Rabbit for my granddaughter to help her retain and improve her reading skills over the summer. What could be better than playing a game while you learn.
my 4 year old son loves it.hes having so much fun too.this is perfect for pre k thru 1st grade.4-7its like having 4 cds in one.
Not recommended for OSX users. I had to install OS9 on a secondary hard drive to get this to work and it only works marginally at best. I have no idea why don't make a true OSX version, since it's been out for 7 years now. It's slow and often produces an "Out of Memory" Error even though I've got about 288MB of RAM on my system. I bought this game which states it works with Apple OSX when fact that it only works in 'classic' (OS 9) on the Mac OS. My son does seem to like the games on here, but most Apple equipment can't even run OS9 now so it's almost worthless.
The directions are very clear and I imagine if I set aside time every day to use this program, our daughter will be reading by age five. The characters are interesting and their speech is well enunciated. The content is entirely age appropriate and innocent - which is rare in this day and age. We ordered this for our four year old daughter and, while it is probably a bit above her level (she is not reading yet but is beginning to sound out letters, etc. It allows you to choose at which level you want to begin, or play. We own other Reader Rabbit CDs and they are all wonderful.I would strongly recommend these products for children ages three to six. and when we read to her she will point out letters that she recognizes.but has not yet began to recognize entire words), it is a wonderful program.
The animation and the music really holds her attention. There are so many educational products out there but Reader Rabbit, Richard Scary and Leap Products are among my favorites. I love Reader Rabbit. The repititon helps her to remember. My daughter is 3 years old and she is beginning to read.
