PhysicsTutor Excalibur Reviews

Because of that experience, I thought of PhysicsTutor as a freshman at Yale taking advanced introductory physics courses. to match their solution. The screen display did not bother me at allwhat does a fancy background have to do with learning physics. I think PhysicsTutor Excalibur is a great learning tool when partnered with a textbook. I knew I needed something to help me with the more basic concepts behind the complicated homework and exam questions I was struggling to answer. While the things I learned through PhysicsTutor Excalibur did not relate as closely to the material I was being tested on as it did in my chemistry class as a high school student, PhysicsTutor still provided me with the information I needed to fully grasp many basic concepts.

Practicing problems, which is what PhysicsTutor has you do, is the best way to fully master physics. I plan to keep utilizing PhysicsTutor Excalibur as I continue in my college career as a Physics and Astronomy major at Yale. As a high school sophomore, I swore by ChemTutor Excalibur to help me prepare for chapter tests, midterms, and finals. PhysicsTutor Excalibur is a great way to develop and test knowledge of basic concepts in physics, throughout high school and even in college. Although some of the answers it gave seemed very specific to the question I was being asked, in many cases I could backtrack to figure out which general equation I should have been using, and could do whatever mathematical approach I needed to do (integration, etc).

This thing looks like it was written for DOS computers. I wish I'd never bought it. (Most kids today have probably never seen or heard of DOS). Go with Schaum's Easy Outline for Physics instead. What a waste of money. You can't choose what types of problems to work on, just general categories. Not only is it awful to look at but it's method of "teaching" is to test you and then tell you what you did wrong.

Well, it's not very entertaining and I find it very difficult to actually learn Physics from it.

I have found it very difficult to keep myself interested in the course, because the homework assignments are so long and tedious. Pencil, paper, a textbook, and maybe a solutions manual to verify you are headed in the right direction, are much more effective study tools.

I am a senior in college, and like a lot of people I put off the Physics requirements until the very end. As far as working with the Math, it is extremely lacking.

So, I purchased Excalibur hoping it would be entertaining while teaching me Physics at the same time. If you are like me and get the general concepts, but have problems applying the math, then, this disc is not for you.

The program is good at covering the basic concepts, so you understand the rules being applied.

This is a great product,I can't wait to buy the rest of the set.

Dolores Gende. AP Physics Teacher. The LEARN button brings up a screen that explains the concept associated with that question and shows how to approach that type of question. The graphics are clear and neatly labeled.

The EXPLANATION button brings up a screen that shows in detail, how to solve that specific problem. I have used PhysicsTutor Excalibur in my classes as an assessment tool in the form of quizzes. In the test simulation mode, the results are given at the end of the test. Irving, TX. This software can be used as an additional resource for students that need extra help.

There are simple computation questions, variable manipulation questions, and graphical analysis in various levels of difficulty. The interface of the program is very simple and easy to use. This interactive physics tutorial on CD format is divided into 20 topics in all the content areas of the AP Physics B curriculum. The software can be used in a tutorial mode or in a test simulation mode. It contains dozens of multiple-choice questions, including a wide variety of formats. The difference between the modes is that the tutorial mode includes immediate feedback, i.e., after each answer, a pop-up window indicates if the question was answered correctly. I have found that these questions provide an excellent practice resource for the multiple-choice section of the AP exam and I highly recommend it.

Both modes, the tutorial and test, include a Learn button and an Explanation button.
