Norton Systemworks for Mac 3.0 Reviews
SHAME on Symantec for even continuing to have this product on the market. Used to be great. Error message 23005.
do NOT waste your time and money on this. But they have not really upgraded this product for Mac since 2003 and it is a disaster. I had the same experience as the other "1 Star" reviewers with Mac OS X.
Peter Norton should be ashamed that this is still on the market with his name on it. buy Tech Tool. crashed hard drive.I used to totally rely on Norton Utilities.
Search Apple Software (or other retailers) for "Symantec Norton AntiVirus 10.0 and Personal Firewall 3.1 for Macintosh" the bundle price is around $90. Good Luck. I can't seem to find a better deal, since I don't know if Norton's Utilities are upgrading to 10.4. On the Symantec and Apple software web sites, Norton recently upgraded their Anti-Virus and Firewall programs to be compatible with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). I just found this out (3/29/06) as I'm about to upgrade to a new Mac Mini (with Tiger), so I want to be able to upgrade my Norton to work with it.
I am an expert Mac user and have been so since 1984. . If you own stock. You freely send software to loyal users accept $ in return with no prior upfront warning about known problems. SELL, SELL, SELL.
NORTON UTILITIES WILL SCRAMBLE YOUR HARD DRIVE IRREPARABLY. Ran Norton Utilities, no errors, ran speed disk, scrambled directory. I will never purchase software from you again, and will tell everyone in my sphere of influence to stay away from your company. Had to erase hard drive. Symantec, you suck. I have never had a system crash or any loss of data - ever.
I purchased the latest version of Norton Utilities from the Symantec Website shortly after upgrading to the new Tiger system from Apple.
This program is not compatible with OS 10.4, and Norton has no plans to upgrade SystemWorks or Utilities to be compatible with OS 10.4.
I decided to try them again.
Nothing found there.
Tried Disk DeFrag and it said that the directories were too large for "this version" of SystemWorks to defrag.Useless.
Spent $100 elsewhere on this.
I'll be returning it and using TechTool again.
I was sadly mistaken.First, I ran Disk Doctor.
Got error 23005, which the support said to run Volume Recover.
Got the same error from Disk Doctor.
I've used Norton in the past but had switched to TechTool.
