Norton 360 Version 2.0 Reviews
If I leave the firewall on, I can't use my internet. I can't schedule a defrag because Norton won't let me. I would not recommend this product to anyone. It has really messed up my computer. I received the Norton 360 around March. It is really ridiculous.
Very easy to install and it has held up great so far. But tell me again - why do these softwares have to come in such big boxes. Perfect for a computer novice (such as me).
I guess Norton thinks that every single computer user now-a-days is "computer illeteriate", and that they need to FULLY AUTOMATE EVERYTHING. Systemworks is a GREAT product - could run SpeedDisk and even at 7% fragmentation you could speedup your computer by running the utility. Norton has unilatterally determined that "they know best" and when you try to optimize your disk, it WILL NOT optimize them unless NORTON thinks they need to be optimized. Bottom line - if you have Systemworks, stick with it and use one of the free antivirus products. Even 7% fragmentation does not reach the "magic threshold". BTW - don't even think of trying to combine SystemWorks with Norton Internet Security - in Norton's great wisdom they won't let you install them if the other one is installed. I chated for over 1 hour with Norton Support (an oxymoron) and was told that I should just use Windows Defrag because 360 would only defrag when IT wanted to.
One to do work on. When I log into my computer, it takes generally 10 to 15 minutes of Norton 360 doing its own virus scanning (which you do not have the power to stop you can't even kill the process in the Task Manager). I sometimes feel I need two computers. Unfortunately, I usually turn on my computer because I want to do something, not because I feel like virus scanning for the next 15 minutes. Theoretically, I can still use the computer during this time, but opening a browser is a 6 to 7 minute process. The other to entertain itself by downloading Microsoft patches and virus scanning. If Norton 360 would give you the option at bootup to do a virus scan or not, the product would be great. It used to take me under a minute to boot up.
I couldn't even go in and make simple changes to the settings, nothing to do with the virus update feature. I am not happy with it at all. I have been an avid Norton Symantec user for over 13 years. This is the worst product EVER. What they are really asking is that I buy the software again. Once a year is up. PLUS A pop-up comes up everyday twice a day begging me to buy another year subscription. It slows your system down so much that I had to disable most of the features, which an average user will not know how to do.
you might as well throw it in the trash OR give it to someone else OR wipe your hard drive and install a fresh copy. it renders the entire software useless. I have heard of complaints that it will crash your system the day it expires.
I will never buy any anti-virus or internet security software from this company again.
That is false. NOTE: You must uninstall any anti-virus software if you are installing a different brand. My biggest complaint is that once the "virus update" expires.
Uninstalling any Norton products are difficult and you should find a good article on the internet on how to do this.
