Bottom line: If you can get past the sometimes-hokey presentation, this is one of the best study aids available. It increased by almost 300.
But then I took the initial diagnostic exam, and was given approximate baseline scores which seemed quite reasonable (given that my high school math is about 30 years in the past, and I had done exactly no preparation). The program also includes computer-based flashcards and games that will help improve your ability to quickly respond to questions. A great tool.
That helped a great deal. My score didn't increase by 100. The lessons brought back lots of old knowledge, and provided some shortcuts as well.
My test prep was focused on the GRE. Although I purchased several study aids, including Kaplan GRE Exam in a Box (which I also recommend), this little software package became my primary study tool.
When I first installed the software and started poking around, the graphics seemed a little too "cutesy". Once the diagnostic is complete, the program builds a study program for you, which you can work through it at your own pace.
This CD has practice tests that mock the real GRE, so you can get used to working under a time limit, and answering the questions on a computer. It is a game where you try to match the words with their definitions in a limited amount of time. The only problem I have with this software is it comes off alittle cheesy and childish when you do some of the lessons. The vocabulary builder was a real help too. Other than that, its worth using. The reason I recommend this CD is the practice tests and the vocabulary builder. When I took the GRE the first time I had reviewed my math and practiced my vocab, but I was not used to doing the problems in a strict time limited environment.
