Imediately upon instalation it corrupted my Windows ME software. Joe I have wasted an entire Saturday on this software which I bought for protection, but instead ended up with my worst computer nightmare. I should have gone to the store and bought something by Norton. I spent 6 hours on the phone with microsoft trying everything to uninstall it with no luck. Iresponsible, negligent, malicious and malevelant.
I reinstalled my system software 3 times and still can't use my computer. Amazon has no tech support number, and if this software has one I was unable to find it before it destroyed my system. I ordered this software on July 3rd, but was not able to download it till July 5. I regret mightily buying this software.
What was inappropriate is charging a refund processing fee for a product that was ineffective. It was difficult to install, customer service was non-existent and the refund took weeks (minus the 26% processing fee for a download). When we requested compensation for cleaning the virus their software allowed into our system and we were told our request was "inappropriate". To clean the computers and install a firewall was costly. We needed to purchase a firewall for our business and this one was recommended to us.
Despite claims from Firekeys, the product allowed our computers to become infected with a virus. Repeated calls provided no results only frustration. To try this product cost us time, money and frustration. If you're under the impression this product will provide ample virus protection, forget it, it doesn't.
I am still very green with all this computer lingo but have been getting the best support service on this product. Thanks I only wish my internet provider and my puter tech support were as prompt and helpful. Prompt emails and phone calls. Super service.
This product at first seemed to block my email program, so I contacted the manufacturer's customer support by email, and the customer support was great - they called me on the phone within 5 minutes of my email, and helped make sure that Windows XP was OK, and suggested that my ISP should be contacted. So far, no hackers or viruses have got me.I like the Internet password protection - it stops programs on my PC from using the internet unless I enter the password - with this feature I have found that Microsoft automatically start a program called "WINMGMT.EXE" to automatically access the internet and I don't know what it's doing - I think it's upgrading my Windows software, which I think was an option I selected when I installed Windows. The private information filtering feature is useful to monitor email content & web site forms. It can block popup ads (not perfectly - I have seen one or two slip past anyway), and the virus controls are unlike others I have seen, but appear to work. Turns out the ISP was the cause, not Firekeys.Also, free upgrades are available on the website, so I upgraded to the latest version.The product captures and records a lot of information about internet activity that is interesting, but more than I need to know.
