Drive Genius 2
Is your Mac running slower? You probably need to defrag your drive. Although OS X optimizes the files in the Mac, it doesn't optimize the drive itself. Drive Genius 2 has the ability to defrag, directory repair and repartition on-the-fly. This is the same product used by Apple at the Genius Bar to defrag your drive (Part of the ProCare program offered by Apple). This software makes hard drive maintenance tasks painless, fast and easy. So prevent disaster by using Drive Genius 2 to maintain your computer.

Drive Genius 2 Reviews
There WERE boot problems with some Intel Mac models running newer Leopard versions when Drive Genius 2 was first released, caused by Apple's footdragging and their delayed release of required startup parameters.
(Don't get me started on the Santa Rosa outfit that always pre-sells its next cure-all version and takes a year to deliver.
They are at it again, right now).
However, all other Drive Genius 2 features were and are functional.
Then in September 2008, v2.1 was released with many improvements and the addition of DriveSlim(tm), a clutter finding and eliminating feature.
Drive Genius 2.1 is indeed the best product of its type available.
Prosoft Engineering was head and shoulders above other utility software vendors (who shall remain unnamed) in their response to the fix with the release of v2.0.3.
Drive Genius 2.1 is a stable, mature utility that is continually being improved and in nearly all cases, updates at no additional cost to users.
Prosoft Engineering is responsive, supportive and comsumer positive.
Good easy to use interface that looks good. But it doesnt work yet on new macs. Warrior is the only one so far that will work when you download the update online from them, but warrior is soooooo basic. Time will tell Once they make it work it will be great.
Intel iMac 20, OS 10.5 with the latest updates. Drive Genius 2 arrived today. It got to about 35% and signalled "Done." I knew it couldn't be, so I set it again to defrag. It now can't mount the boot drive, so the computer won't boot from its hard drive. I booted from the DG CD, and set it to defrag. I booted from the Disk Warrior 4.1 CD, but it was unable to correct the problem. It said it couldn't, as the drive is corrupted.
Now I've booted from the TechToolPro 4 CD, but it doesn't look like it's going to work either. Something about an overlap. I installed it, and used it to check permissions. No problem.
Total waste of money not to mention screwing up a fairly new Apple iMac computer. Will not run from installed disk or will not boot and run from loaded disk. If you don't buy this product from the manufacturer the support is almost non-existent, so don't save an extra $10 by buying it from Amazon; go to manufacturer. Save you're money.
For those of you who purchased Drive Genius 2 that is not version 2.0.3, go to Prosoft's website and you can download the latest update for free, as well as get a free bootable disk, if needed. I had no problems running any of the utilities or booting from the disc. I think a lot of the people who left bad reviews never came back and updated them because the software does automatically check for updates and 2.0.3 was released in June 2008. I used it on my 1-year old MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.4. I received this product yesterday and the version shipped was 2.0.3. It defragged my drive beautifully (I was honestly surprised at how fragged it was), repaired my permissions, and checked for bad sectors on my hard drive (none - woo hoo).
