Dr. Seuss ABC
See Aunt Annie riding on an Alligator. Meet a Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz. Dr. Seuss makes the alphabet so unpredictably entertaining. 400 alphabetically inspired surprises with humor, rhyme and fun!
A great way to learn the alphabet--from Aunt Annie's alligator to the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz--Dr. Seuss's beloved word play and fanciful illustrations are brought beautifully to life through this software. Each page has multiple hidden places to click, along with pictures, actions, and songs just waiting to surprise you. For a great activity for more advanced readers, have them pick out just the verbs or nouns on each page. Younger siblings can learn to recognize both capitals and lowercase letters. Sound effects and talking characters add depth and humor to the basic alphabet, and Seuss's version of the "ABC" song will become a permanent sing-along favorite. The CD can even be played on your regular home music system--a great bonus when parents need their computer back! Required mouse skills can be as simple as clicking one icon to turn the page; kids can also discover clickables no matter what level of coordination they have. --Jill Lightner

Dr. Seuss ABC Reviews
ABC is worse; we can't get past the letter B before it hangs. Bought the ABC and Green Eggs and Ham cds (they came as a set). Could not load GE&H on my hubby's laptop (running XP) without hanging, so we tried my desktop (running Vista). Both computers have more then enough RAM, OS are listed as compatible, etc. It loaded, and runs, but continues to hang on occasion. It gets one star 'cause we can run GE&H most of the time, and my 3 1/2 yr old LURVES it.
I enjoyed picking it out online, the price was great and the service too. Thanks. My son is 4 and is learning his A,B,C's with this program. Its fun and keeps him interested.
You can't open the application "Dr. # 2x or faster CD-ROM drive. # Power Mac. OS X (10.5.1) Leopard no longer supports OS 9. OS 7.5 - 9.
When you insert this CD you will get:. # Macintosh:. # 8 MB RAM. My computer meets these requirements. However after receiving the CD a key system requirement was identified:. # 256-color or better video display. Seuss's ABC" because the Classic environment is no longer supported. # 80 MB hard disk space.
Here are the documented system requirements as shown to a customer:. The little apple compatibility icon needs to be updated to reflect reality. # Mouse. # 68020 or faster processor. Hmmm wait a minute.
My daughter, who is 6, prefers to have the use of a mouse to play on the program, but many of my students who have problems using a mouse, prefer to have the book read out loud to them. Either way, this CD-ROM both teaches and entertains. Seuss Living Books ABC on CD-ROM. I teach mentally retarded adults and a program I found that really works with my students is Dr.
The menu includes options to either have the story read to you, or to "play now", the latter presumably being the interactive option. It's almost entirely non-interactive. My 3-yr old daughter is entertained by this, but as we watched it, I couldn't help but wonder why it is sold as software rather than just a DVD you would watch on the TV. But, from what I can tell, both options do exactly the same thing, which is to read the story from A to Z with on-screen animation.
