Red Alert 3 introduces new units and a brand new faction. View larger. | Intriguing Plot Twists In previous games, the war between the Allies and Soviets was coming to a close with the Allies nearing victory. In desperation, the Soviets created a time-travel device that they've used to assassinate Albert Einstein before he is able to develop the weapon technology the Allies later use to defeat the Soviets. Upon returning, they notice a new world, and there is a world war taking place between three groups for control of the world. Play As Three Different Factions for Varied game play In Red Alert 3, you have the choice to play as the Allies, the Soviets, or the Empire of the Rising Sun. Each faction has its own story-line and distinct units with advantages and disadvantages that you have to master in order to win. The new faction to the series is the Empire of the Rising Sun, derived from Imperial Japan, with an all-new cast of units and characters. The three factions have many differences, exemplified by their wildly different types of units. The Soviets, for example, have armored attack bears, Allies have the Dolphin ship which can high jump and use a sonic attack, and the Empire of the Rising Sun features such quirky units as a giant transforming mecha and ninjas. As they've done with the series, EA injects humor into the game when possible, keeping a smile on your face as you wage war. Fight on Land, in the Air, and on Sea Red Alert 3 has land units, air units, and naval units, all integral parts of the game. Unlike most strategy games that don't bother with naval warfare, Red Alert 3 makes controlling the seas an essential part of the game. Controlling resources in the seas and mounting attacks from all directions are strategies that must be employed to achieve victory. Cooperative Mode Lets You Team Up with Your Friends Red Alert 3 has a fully co-operative campaign mode where you and a friend can play together to achieve victory. This means that you have to develop a strategy together, as well as execute it in synch in order to win. If your friends aren't online, you can also choose one of several AI commanders as your teammate. Play Against Your Friends in Multiplayer With the different units and play mechanics of each faction, you and your friends will have a great time playing against each other, perfecting different strategies to best suit the units you have and the maps you play on. And thanks to the balanced game play, no one will have an unfair advantage. For previous fans of Command and Conquer, Red Alert 3 will provide the same light-hearted game play, but with more units, more strategies, and more fun. Newcomers to the game will soon see what all the fuss and laughter is about.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Reviews
I hate this game so much, and I hate EA even more from destorying one of the best RTS series ever. I am seriously so disapointed in this game. There are only two units that you really use- all the others are just there. RA2 and RA2 YR were excellent. Unintersting designs, boring gameplay, and hidden spyware.makes for a great game right. I hope i can send it back.
Even the units seemed all similar. As for the DRM, its already been hacked so not really worth the trouble EA. That includes the non-skippable ingame video cut ins, which you'll get sick of seeing if you have one diffcult spot. The maps are uninteresting. The game took about 4 days to complete all three stories. Let me put it this way, my buddy sold me his copy for $5 after playing for a week. The game is a poor sequel to westwood's red alert series. The story is lacking.
Let me talk about the game (for a change). You have three factions to choose from, Allies (U.S./Britain), Russians (as usual), and the Empire (Japan). You can play the Campaigns in Co-op mode. Leave Windows for your gaming, it's never been that "secure" anyways. This means that if you have a mission that seems unbeatable (some of them are very tough) you can co-op with a friend.
5 stars in my opinion, and I am an avid gamer. Enough whining about DRM. Umm, listen people. I hope people read this and realize this is a truly awesome game, and don't avoid it because of all this DRM crap. My card cannot handle the "Ultra high" detail (nor do I have enough RAM) but if you do, this game is truly awesome to watch in action.
A friend and I have been doing co-op with the Soviets and I have been doing the solo campaign with the Allies. Meaning, instead of just "attack" you can hit F and use a 2nd type of attack (or in defense) to make your units twice as fun. The graphics are amazing. Every single unit now has two special abilities.
If you want SECURITY, and you're so smart, run Linux. I have it at a "medium" setting which is still nice and very playable with an NVIDIA 8500GT and only 1 gig of RAM. I love this game, I have had no problems, whatsoever, and if you know anything about computers, you can remove the "spyware" and just leave the basic GameSpy running for your network play, so that you don't play idiots online that are full of hacks/bots and set up their base in three seconds flat to crush you. I think most of these reviews were written by anal retentive computer geeks, and not true gamers.
I have a nice gaming machine, I never even read the reviews on this game until now, and I am absolutely mind-boggled to see so many 1-star reviews. Why do you need to re-install this game over 5 times anyways.
I have had zero issues with SecuROM. However, units now have alternate abilities. Structures, vehicles, and personnel take to the sea and add to the overall battle. A major addition to this series in RA3 is the amphibious aspect. Very simply Red Alert 3 is a wonderfully colorful game. I am not so sure why there is are so many reviews that target the anti-piracy aspects of the game.
At times the amphibious side throws you off a bit when you see an engineer on a jet ski, in a zodiac, or on a segway looking thing going after a building capture. Especially the Rising Sun units which tend to be in the Robotech/Transformers vein.
Units are pretty balanced and the three factions have unique properties. The unit veterancy system remains similar to RA2.
You can tell the amount of money and effort put into the game. .
Red Alert 3 installed without any problems on my lap top. If you are looking for the familiar elements (over the top B-movie acting, the familiar Cold War alternate history [albeit with the Japanese.er, Rising Sun thrown in this time], skirmish/campaign/online games, and the build a base/collect/mass/attack format).
Good to have the RA series back after a 7-year hiatus.
Overall, a worthy part of the Red Alert series. However, it is quite fun. I pre ordered it from Amazon in the beginning of August. That brings a good twist into the game.
I was looking forward to the release of this game. The graphics are not as detailed as Company of Heroes. I do not intent to install the game many times.
Shipping was free but slow. I like the naval part of the game. The game itself is different than expected.
Many units and buildings can go on the water. I do not care about the DRM problem many are writing about. I was pleased to see that the price has fallen twice between my order and the delivery.
I ended up paying for the lowest price (I could not find any price cheaper on the internet).
