Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 Reviews

Always test something like this with a secondary hard or move all your important data to a backup before attempting anything. There are hundreds of thousands of different software and hardware combination's that can cause foul ups when working with partitions, master boot record entries and the like. Upon reading the countless negative reviews i figured i would toss in my 2 cents. If people are upset that their main partition is messed up when they start screwing with it they shouldn't be using this software in the first place. The product is amazing and i have only had one small issue with the os selector but i give it 10 stars if i could. It works well for what designed for so give it a break. This program works remarkably well for what it has to deal with not to mention it works ten times better than the acclaimed partition magic.

I wish i give you a more thorough review but I just bought the product for one purpose; to enlarge my C: drive partition. There is a way using DOS to move drives around and create space, but I needed a simpler and safer approach. I then, without thinking to enlarge the C: partition, created other drives partitions (D: E: etc.). that I soon filled with data. Alas the demo Disk Director version would not do the task, and downloading a licensed version from Acronis cost too much.

The process took 1hr 20min and worked flawlessly. I could not enlarge the C: partition then without removing the other partitions, which I could not afford to do. So I ordered from Amazon, received it 3 days later, ran it, and chose to enlarge the C: partition taking empty space away from another partition. What else can I say. After an HD failure I had used a disk image to create a C: partition on a new larger HD. It cost a lot of money for a product I will probably just this once, but I needed the task done desperately and Disk Director did it, so 5 stars.

This software is very easy to use, and allows you to see the results of your changes before you initiate them. The procedure was quick and simple for my application, so if anyone out there is still using XP or older I would definitely recommend this product. I've never worked with partitions before but this software made it very easy. Although they recommend it, I didn't backup any data prior to this partition change, but didn't lose any data. The software also has other hard drive and partition functions but I haven't used them yet. I have Windows XP on a Sony Vaio desktop with the common C and D drive setup and had a large amount of unused space on D, with a cramped C area. I bought this product to change the location of the partition on my hard drive.

With the discounted Amazon price it was work the money to use this program rather than one of the freeware ones- didn't want to risk a major meltdown. Great software. Haven't tried every last feature but the partition related fetures work very smoothly.

After hiding the partition and creating a new one, installing XP normally and having everything set up and running, came the moment to use the so-called "Boot Manager" to allow me to chose between Vista and XP. Well, now four months have passed since the problem was "resolved". Disk Director to the rescue. Before purchasing this product, make sure that everything you need works as it should, because should you need any correction, you are on your own. And I had an unpleasant surprise when I saw that Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 didn't recognize the partition with Vista, even when the product is clearly marked as compatible with Vista. Days later, I got a message asking me to close the support ticket, as the issue was "resolved to my complete satisfaction".

After some time trying to make Vista behave, I resolved to install XP Professional for my work, but leaving the partition with Vista intact for any ocasional future use. Guess what - not a single update was released for any of the products I bought (since I purchased them), and I am still not able to use the Boot Manager. Months after my purchase, I exchanged my portable computer with a new one, this one coming with Windows Vista Business preinstalled, in Brazilian Portuguese. I beg your pardon. Needing to update my tools to manage partitions and backups, I purchased licenses for several Acronis products (True Image, Drive Cleanser, Disk Director Suite) a year ago. As I had nothing but an allegation that the problem was fixed, but I still wasn't able to use the Boot Manager, I said that I didn't agree to close the ticket, and certainly wasn't "completely satisfied" with the solution at the moment.

After contacting technical support, I was told that Disk Director Suite 10.0 had a bug recognizing non-English versions of Vista, but this bug was corrected and would be fixed in the next build of the software.
